Day Three

After finding a way of dealing with the roaches in our hotel (not being able to see them really helped)
we had a pretty good night and got caught up on some much needed sleep.

Full of energy, we packed up our stuff on Wednesday morning and loaded everything into the car. By now we are thankful that it's huge (and yes, it is HUGE, my american friends!!) because even though it is only day three, we have ton of stuff already!!
While Julia was checking us out, I did what I do best: I organized. Drinks, food, luggage.

Then we said Bye-Bye to EconoRoach and went to Walgreens to buy every nailpolish they have.

We had to kill time until the outlet mall opened, after all.

Unfortunately we got here at a time where the stores only have winter clothes and no summer stuff. Too bad we didn't bring anything to wear and it is HOT! At least for us, Floridians keep telling us we have a cold front right now. Ummmm, right. It's way hotter right now than it was this summer in Germany.
So we got really frustrated because we couldn't find any shorts.
That didn't stop me from shopping at American Eagle though...
So after lunch
I texted with Jamie and she suggested that we go to the Florida Mall. I love regular malls more than outlet malls, even though they are more expensive.

And we finally got lucky and bought shorts!! Then we transformed into all-american girls and motored East to meet up with Jamie and Melissa and the kiddos.
We met at the Mellow Mushroom near the Siemens Offices on Alafaya Trail. They were stuck in traffic so we had to wait for a bit.
The wait was totally worth it, though. We had such a great time and it was so much fun to explain the differences between Germany and the US to the kids.
I will upload the pics Jamie took as soon as I get them.

Then at 8, we took off North towards Jacksonville. It was pretty dark and I was exhausted so the drive wasn't that much fun. But we made it safely and we really suprised with our hotel and room. We can hear and see the ocean and it all looks really nice and clean.
But we had one little surprise left... is it a closet?
Noooo, it's a bathroom!
My american friends - why on earth can't you build doors that actually close? And are a tiny bit soundproof?! Really...

  3. See building them to close and be sound proof would cost money... and well... American companies - or at least most companies that I know of are.
Glad you are having a good time.
When will you be in Dallas and for how long? Dallas is a short 4 hr or so drive from me and Eva. :D

  5. Looks like a lot of fun! When will you be in Dallas and what way are coming in? I saw you are going to New Orleans too. Didn't know if you were passing by Houston. Dallas is about 4-5 hours from me. :) Wasn't sure if you were taking Interstate 10 through New Orleans and what way were you headed to Dallas from there.

  6. Thank you for all the comments! Loved reading them.
We will leave New Orleans on the 10th, which is also Julia's Birthday. It'll take us like 8 hours to go to Dallas. Then we have a whole day in Dallas, where we will unwind and relax from the long drive during an extensive shopping trip. Then we have a ten-hour-drive the next day to Albuquerque.
